SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
About Skills Development
Our skills development initiative, which started in 2019, aims to end the silence around domestic violence by providing survivors with skills to empower them to generate an income, making them more likely to speak out and report abuse and become less financially dependent on their abusers.
If they are skilled “it helps them to break the cycle of abuse, grow their confidence, unleash their potential and develop hope in the future,”.
Through our skills development initiative, GBV survivors are gaining knowledge on transfer of skills doing sewing, crocheting, entrepreneurship training, home based care training, lay counselling, and gardening. The most beneficiaries of our programme are abused women who have attended one of our GBVF programme. These programmes have been funded by NLC, Solidarity Fund and PEPFAR.
We also do business consulting whereby we assist mainly women and the youth who wants to start their business/projects. Several of our clients has managed to start their projects hence we are providing them with monitoring. We assist them to register their business/projects and also comply with relevant government legislation.
